This photo was one of those lucky moments where I’m driving along and catch a glimpse of a view or scene just long enough to know I couldn’t pass it by so I slam on the brakes, pull a U-turn (with or without the handbrake depending on my level of excitement), and delay the trip for a bit while I make beautiful photos.

Rotorua, in New Zealand’s Western Bay Of Plenty, is a well-known tourist spot thanks mainly to its geothermal activity, but it’s also a photographer’s dream thanks partly due to its many lakes. This little jetty is on Lake Rotoiti, which you drive around on the route from Tauranga and Mount Maunganui. There isn’t even anything else there, just a gravel car park and this jetty. Perfect for uninterrupted long-exposure photography! Hope you like it 🙂
