Landscape of sunset over rocks in Lake Taupo, New Zealand

Lake Taupo sits right in the centre of New Zealand’s North Island. It is the largest lake in New Zealand with a perimeter of almost 200km. The town of Taupo at the lake’s north-eastern shore on Tapuaeharuru Bay is a hub for the many outdoor adventure and tourist attractions in the region. From there visitors can access everything from watersports like fishing and wakeboarding to skiing and snowboarding on Mount Ruapehu to skydiving and bungy jumping. Taupo is the gateway to the central North Island’s attractions and is a stunning location in itself. It is also a photographer’s paradise. I recently had a chance to photograph the beautiful lake and Waikato River, but as usual I didn’t have anywhere near enough time there!
