About

Hi, my name’s Rowan. You’ve probably already figured out that I’m a photographer, so I’ll tell you what you probably don’t know yet. I’m from New Zealand, but I’ve been on the move for awhile now. I love to travel and experience anything that’s different to what I’m accustomed to. People, places, cultures, climates, anything that makes me feel like I’m learning and experiencing something new.

I’ve worked as a paediatric and neonatal nurse for a number of years, and as much as I love it, I have felt drawn to want to use my photographic skills to capture and document the world around me in a way that makes people think and breaks down stereotypes. I love to create images that portrays the beauty and dignity of people and cultures. There is enough visual media out there telling us the bad news, so I like to try to tell some of the good news. There is a lot to tell.

After leaving behind my wedding photography business in Wellington, I decided to make a move into the area of humanitarian and travel photography, serving non-governmental organisations (NGOs), non-profits, and charities in order to help them capture the people and projects they are involved with. Good quality visual media is invaluable for raising awareness, fundraising efforts, and showing donors how their donations are being used.

At the time of writing, I currently live in Melbourne, Australia with my wife Gillian, a midwife and my partner in crime. To keep up to date with my latest work and adventures, you can read my blog, follow/subscribe to my RSS feed, or follow me on Twitter/Facebook. If you’d like to contact me, I would love to hear from you.

Sincerely
Rowan
